Study permits allow students to study at designated learning institutions (DLIs) in Canada. It is important to know that with a study permit, you may be permitted to work while attending school. Once you have graduated, you may also qualify for a full-time work permit.

Typically, the study permit is valid for the duration of your program of study.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Be enrolled in a designated learning institution (DLI)

Possess enough income to cover your: tuition fees, living expenses, and transportation

Prove to an immigration officer that you will leave Canada when your study permit expires.

Upon graduating from an eligible Canadian designated learning institution (DLI), you may be eligible for a Post-Graduation Work Permit. With a PGWP, you would be able to work in Canada and gain valuable Canadian work experience. If you gain skilled Canadian work experience in NOC types 0, A, or B through the PGWP, you may be eligible for permanent residence in Canada. ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

Maintain full-time student status in Canada during each applicable academic session.

Obtain a transcript and an official letter from the DLI, as proof that you have completed the program requirements.

Complete an academic, vocational or professional training program at an eligible DLI institution in Canada that lasts at least 8 months.
